in Byron Bay and now living in Lennox Head, Josh is
an outstanding musician with almost 20 years’ experience
playing live music throughout Australia and overseas.
He has performed countless times alongside some of Australia’s finest artists, and can count
Keith Urban and Daniel Jones (Savage Garden) amongst his musical mentors.
Josh started North Coast Entertainment in 2009 when he moved home to Byron Bay
from Sydney, after many years performing in the city. He immediately saw a need on
the North Coast for top quality, affordable byron bay wedding music and function entertainment, and enlisted the coast’s most experienced live musicians and DJ’s to join his team.
His reputation for providing fine function entertainment quickly grew and NCE’s services

Are these musicians any good?
Here at NCE, all of our musicians are hand picked by Josh and Matt to best represent the NCE philosophy of 'providing the finest quality musicians and DJ's in the area'.
Some of our artists already had a good public profile before joining NCE because they are great performers and above all, talented musicians. Some even had successful recording careers!
Rest assured, when you book an artist through North Coast Entertainment you are getting more than just live background music, but a talented, professional and polished act that takes pride in their ability to entertain people.
Will we get what we pay for?
You most certainly will! Our pricing has been carefully scaled to accurately represent what we put into our work. Some prices may seem high to some, but when you break down the time it takes to learn songs, rehearsals to polish a performance, the cost of owning an expensive PA system, the travel, as well as the hours spent setting up and actually playing at a wedding, it's not unreasonable.
Not only will you get quality, well played music from talented musicians, you get it played through a top quality PA system using the best and most reliable instruments and equipment.
This means, a less likelihood of embarrassing malfunction and 'technical issues' and a more enjoyable listening experience.
Our artists are all experienced in what it means to play at a wedding or event and it's not just a case of rocking up late for another pub gig. This means, as things happen on the night i.e. speeches, first dance, bridal party entrance, that the mic for the MC is ready to go, your requested song is cued and ready and you aren't left waiting for the musician to get their s*&t together.. These things may seem trivial, but all contribute to the smooth running of the event. In this regard, our testimonials speak for themselves.
Are you guys locals?
Yes! One of the things that sets us apart from other operators, is that our musicians all live in the Byron Shire and are very familiar with all the venues and have great relationships with the local wedding suppliers. Again, this may seem trivial but it means we are familiar with how each supplier works and the running of weddings and events at each venue. This contributes to the smooth running of the event, and can save time and energy for your co-ordinator or venue manager. Not to mention the knowledge each artist has of the noise restrictions for each venue, extremely important if you don't want to get your event shut down!!!
Will you play the music we want to hear?
Short answer? We will certainly try!
When it comes to live music, some artists have massive repertoires and can cover a huge list of tunes to suit many situations. While this is mostly the case for our artists, their list may only have a few songs that click with you and while some have a relatively limited amount of songs they play, they play them extremely well. Either way, we do recommend having a good look at each artists song list to see if they suit the style and genres you want to hear.
It's worth noting that it takes a long time to learn a song, and each artist has worked long and hard to compile a list of tunes that suits them as an artist. We are more than happy to take requests, and if we know the songs we will play it. Unless your request is 'Gangnam Style', then you might get a concerned look from us ;)
Most of our packages include anywhere from 1-3 special songs we can learn (if doable) specially for your day, and you are more than welcome to go through our song-lists and mark the ones you like and the ones you don't.
When it comes to the DJ set however, you can make as little or as many song requests as you have time for! As there are literally millions of songs out there, and while it's likely we can get most of them, we can't list them all to show you. What we usually say to people who book our DJ is, give us a list of about 30 or 40 tunes you want to hear and we'll fill in the rest and make them all flow. Sure, you can send us a full list of 1000 songs in the order you want them played and at what time you want them played, but who really has that much time on their hands?? Our DJ's are excellent at what they do and are experts in reading the crowd and taking requests! They will always play the stuff you want to hear, so just leave the hard work up to them!
